A rich history of protecting land
How It All Began
The origins of Meadowsend Consulting Company are founded in Meadowsend Timberlands Limited, a business started in 1992 by Bob French, in Kingston, New Hampshire. Bob was a passionate and dedicated outdoorsman and forest owner who gained his knowledge and appreciation for forests and forest products through a long career in the lumber business that began when he was a teenager and continued for over 60 years. Bob’s goal for Meadowsend Timberlands Limited (MTL) was to obtain a significant landholding of high-quality forestland so that these natural and productive areas could be profitably and sustainably managed. To this day, Bob’s vision is carried out by a small group of committed employees.
To protect this land for future generations, Bob was an early adopter of working forest easements which protect the land from development while allowing active forest management. The first easement was placed on one of his ownerships in 1975, with over half of the MTL lands under easement today.
In 1998 Bob decided to expand his business by offering the same quality forest management services he employed on his land to other landowners, and consequently Meadowsend Consulting Company was born.
